Make Sundays Special

Make Sundays Special, a really lovey idea introduced by Bristol's Mayor. The centre of Bristol is car free for an afternoon and instead filled with fantastic free events- from swing dancing to chalk drawing.
However, note to self, when your child asks for a go on a darts game to win a goldfish, make sure child is really crap at darts. We came away with a new pet, followed by an expensive trip to the pet shop. Lesson learned!

The Twins!

The twins have been here for 10 weeks now. Time is going so fast and I am trying to savour every moment as these will be my last babbers!

Theo & Rufus. An hour old....
Here are some photos from the last couple of months. I will get round to writing about the birth story one of these days...

New Year Rezzers

Hey. I have been away quite a while and alot has happened! The Twins arrived safely. Will get around to writing a bit more about that soon.

I just wanted to write down some Resolutions for 2012. Hopefully this blog will be a way of keeping track of my progress, so here goes!

1. Eat more fruit and veg. I am going to need some help with Hugh Fearnley Do-Dah's Veg book for this!
2. Run the Race for Life - and getting fit in general
3. Learn how to drive {This makes an annual appearance on my New Year list, but I think I need to do something about it now, don't you think)
4. Do something 'crafty' each month. I want to try and make things for the home and presents for people
5. Make wise spending choices. In a few years time we want to move, so we are starting a house fund!
6. Cut down on waste - food and other things
7. Spend more time playing with the boys and make the most of weekends and holidays as a family
8. Spend more time outside and visit interesting places
9. make time to see family and friends or let them know i am thinking about them

New Cardigan

I pinned this Top Shop cardigan a few weeks ago over on Pintrest as part of my Autumn Wardrobe wishlist- and guess what? it is now HALF PRICE and is winging its way over to me sometime in the next 3-4 days. Woo-Hoo!

My approach to sale shopping is pretty relaxed. I have NEVER queued up at stupid o clock in the morning for a sale. I just could not face it, and never seem to want anything THAT much. I tend to just scan the sale rails in my own time and tend to look for things that I can incorporate into my wardrobe easily - a kind of 'if it's there, it's there' approach'. I have picked up some pretty cool stuff towards the end of the sales usually at a knock down price that I still wear over and over again. I love it when people say 'that's a lovely dress/skirt/top' and then telling them how much it cost - although I don't think you are supposed to!

On the turn

Part of being thrifty is not wasting anything, right? I had some very wrinkly vegetables bought at W's harvest festival sale a few weeks ago. Chuck them in the bin? No siree. I made a root veggi gratin from this book [another birthday present]

We also bought some apples and I made a crumble, although had a bit of a culinary mishap as the apples turned to mush after trying to soften them a little bit in a pan. Turns out they were not all cooky apples so most of them turned to pulp. Still delish though.

All in all, a very thrifty feast, even though it did give me raging indigestion afterwards!

P.S I had my growth scan today and the twins are 6 pounds already, the same kinda weight as if i had one in  there. I also have my date to be induced - 25th Otcober -eek! No turning back now!
